Hi! My name is Allie Pocock and this is my new blog! I am a Creative Writing major with a minor in Education at Florida State University. I am currently in my third year at FSU and I hope to graduate in Spring of 2020. I have always loved writing and telling stories and I think that the power of words and voice is insurmountable. I have learned how to use my voice and my words to my advantage and I hope to teach others to do that when I become a teacher! I am so excited to be able to get my hands dirty in a classroom and start doing what i feel I am called to do.
I have already taken a couple of Education classes as part of minor. In one of those classes, Introduction to Education, we visited the Sandbox. The Sandbox, as I understand it, is a place where education students can see and experience new technologies that are popping up in the teaching community. There were 3D printers, Smartboards, and even VR headsets! These were really cool to learn about and I feel really fortunate that I have those resources available to me. I also have experience creating a website which was a requirement for a class that I was in.
Through taking this class, I am excited to learn more about how the technology and software that I have always used, can be powered in a different way to make myself a more effective teacher in the future. I think that EME 2040 is going to go really well and I can't wait to see how I improve and grow through this class.
Welcome to EME2040! While you will be asked to answer prompts throughout the semester, I hope you will find that you can use your blog as a creative outlet! ReplyDeleteHi Allie! I too am going to graduate in my third year at FSU too. The Sandbox sounds like a really interesting way to learn even though I've never really heard of it. It seems like something that would be super interesting.
ReplyDeleteAllie! I absolutely love how passionate and driven you are. I can tell that much by reading your blog post alone. You'll be an amazing teacher! The education system, now more than ever, needs people like you. I used to be a Creative Writing major, and although I switched paths, writing will forever hold a place in my heart. I'm hoping to become a published author someday.
