Blog 3
While looking at the Standards and Technology Matrices for ELA, I was mainly paying attention to the section for Grades 11-12 because that is the grade range that I see myself teaching. The Standard that stuck out to me was LAFS.1112.W.2.6 which refers to using technology and the internet to your advantage by making and posting personal work in a space that can be viewed, shared, updated. I would certainly implement this Standard in the form of online blogs! I have never used a blog for a class until this one, but, now I can see this being a very helpful tool in my future classes, especially if I work in a school where technology is easily available so that all students can easily participate. I feel somewhat prepared to implement this tool in that I have now had my own experience using Blogger, however, I think I would need to play with it more to feel comfortable enough to teach it to others.
Continuing with the same grade range, the CPALMS website provides mountains of resources and tools to be at an instructors fingertips. One of the resources I stumbled upon after searching under the English Language Arts tab was TED Ed Animation. This is an easy-to-use creative tool to make your own presentations about different subjects. It is similar to Power Point or Keynote in that there are different slides, however, all of the resources or outside information that you might need, is actually all in the TED Ed database. I see myself utilizing TED Ed Animation in my future lessons to help my students learn while also being entertained by an interactive presentation.
Okay, first of all, I loved this assignment!! Any time that I get to be creative in an assignment for a class, I get so into it!! The biggest skill that I learned was how to make separate columns in the middle of a page. I never knew how to do that before and I never needed to, but now I'm so glad that i can add that to my own toolkit of info. I see myself using this tool, specifically, when I am making worksheets for my future students. Not only does it look professional and visually appealing on paper, but it also saves paper and space to make multiple columns of information. I am very proud of my Newsletter Assignment, but I think that in the future I will add more graphics and pay closer attention to the spacing on the page. I think that I could have left a little less white space and made it a bit more exciting.
